When The North Wind Blows

13.11.2013

Our winter 13 collection is called ‘When The North Wind Blows’. It is a collection inspired by a modern island that faces a dark and tumultuous ocean. The seasonal poem specially written by Davin Gaffney talks of a powerful wind that appears deep within the folds of the ocean. The poem describes how this wind rushes inland and pushes its way down streets, into the glowing city. We follow the path of the wind as it passes flashing neon buoys at sea, and then encounters the fluorescent lights of the city.

All items in the collection have been inspired by this poem. Key ranges such as the Batten range, which takes its name from ‘Batten Down The Hatches’, features extra large storm flaps used to secure exposed zips and pockets. The buoy range features natural calico cotton canvases lacquered with the neon reds from the ocean buoys and cyan blues from the city lights.
